The Theatre - background

The Theatre was set up in 2008, in the Elizabethan style.

Shows are now performed in the courtyard of this unique Tudor property - just as they would have in Shakespeare's time!

At that time, the building was a tavern ran by a man on whom Shakespeare based his famous FALSTAFF character.

Indeed Shakespeare would probably have visited here often as he is documented to have had close connections with the family and it therefore not unlikely he would have seen plays performed here himself.

The Theatre has a full entertainment license and can be hired for plays, amplified and recorded music events.
